Even if you buy with metal it's still a damn big investment.

Yeah but most crate drops are worth less than a key. If you wanted to take an acceptable risk you'd have to get the crates with really good items, and those cost more than usual.

lol, tbh, it dosent matter what the crate has in it. you are going for a unusual! but yearh it would be better to get ones that have items that can get you at least SOME of your money back for new keys!
