No, spycrabbing is not deemed a form of griefing. I don't even know why you would think that?
The reason that an admin/MM is nessacary is because spycrabbing is a form of gambling. If there is nobody to ensure that the winner gets their winnings, then people don't always pay up. When there is an admin involved, the admin holds both parties items/stake and gives them to the winner at the end. There is nothing stopping you spycrabbing without an admin, but if you choose to do that, you do it at your own risk of not getting your winnings and i shouldn't think that any admins will go out of their way to help you get them.
